Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of people do you work with?

We work with adults, couples, and children over the age of 8.

What kinds of issues can you help me with?

We can help with a wide variety of issues. This includes people coping with the effects of trauma, depression, anxiety, and life transitions. We have a great deal of experience working with Substance Use Disorders and those involved with the criminal justice system. We have particular expertise with Veterans, Service Members, and their Families. We also work a great deal with First Responders such as EMS and Police Officers. Additionally, we can help with struggles around parenting and improving relationships. Contact us today to speak to one of our staff about your current struggles and we can help.

What if Counselor X isn’t the right counselor for me?

We don’t actually have a counselor named Counselor X, but we’re pretty sure that if we did, they would be a Badass! Seriously though, one of the great things about choosing private pay, private practice counseling is that you get to choose your therapist. At Veritas Well-Being we’re committed to making sure you find the right fit for you. It’s even possible that our practice isn’t the best fit for you, and if that’s the case, we’ll always strive to make an appropriate referral. Above all else, we want you to get what you need to heal.

What should I expect in a counseling session?

Your first two sessions will likely focus on assessment. We may have you fill out forms, and we’ll definitely ask you lots of questions to figure out your goals and pain points. Once we’ve established an accurate picture of your situation we’ll recommend a treatment plan which will guide our further sessions. We use several different modalities in session including EMDR, ACT, iRest, Mindfulness, and various other techniques.

How much does counseling cost?

Counseling at Veritas Well-Being ranges from provider to provider for individual counseling. Rates increase for couples and longer sessions. Please refer to our Rates and Insurance page for the most current pricing for each provider. Often 90-minutes sessions are indicated for some clients, and on occasion, with trauma work, longer sessions may be indicated. Pricing for these sessions will be provided to you before beginning so that you understand exactly how much your treatment will cost.

How do I pay for sessions?

It is important to understand that Veritas Well-Being is a cash-pay counseling center. We are not in-network with any insurance providers. Depending on the credentials of your counselor you may be able to submit your bills to your insurance provider for partial reimbursement. Your counseling fees may apply toward your out-of-network deductible even if you do not qualify for reimbursement. All of this will vary based on your insurance plan. One option is to work with the app Better to submit your bills to your insurance company. We don’t make any money from working with Better, but they do make things easier. You can also use your FSA and HSA plans to pay for counseling, making your counseling expenses pre-tax.
